Derek Carr Signed
McGloin: @ Houston 2013 Week 11
A quick look back at the upside of Matt McGloin. Bear in mind, MM was an UDFA last season, fought his way on to the roster from the very bottom...tryout status...and started some games for Oakland. Kid has a long way too go, but he's fearless.

Greg Little Claimed Off Waivers
The Oakland Raiders have claimed WR Greg Little off waivers from the Cleveland Browns. Little is a highly athletic receiver, with big play potential. The downside is he doesn't catch the ball with much consistency, among the worst in the League in terms of drop rate. How Olson fits him in will be interesting.
Contract: $754K with $75K workout bonus

12:53 pm PT --- The Texans will go with an "impact offensive player" at No. 33, according to Sal Paolantonio. (thanks to WalterFootball.com for some juice...)
12:51 pm PT --- The Bills are holding out hope for Morgan Moses or Joel Bitonio, per Joe Buscaglia, WGR 550

First Pick Analysis - Reggie and DA Talk Mack
Thanks to RaiderCentral on YouTube
Great Pick. Word was that the Raiders did not expect Mack to be available (thanks to the Jags for taking Bortles)...but he was their guy all along.

Rumor Mill
5/8 (Th.) 4:10 pm PT -- Anything big, it'll be known here, but for now, enjoy the show!
5/8 (Th.) 3:49 pm PT -- Schefter reporting that Manziel is very much in play for the Vikings' top pick.
5/8 (Th.) 2:21 pm PT -- Mike Evans again being linked to Oakland as a prime target at No. 5. Schaub must be grinning...or maybe he wants a young prospect on the blind side? Who knows.
5/8 (Th.) 2:04 pm PT -- Seems pretty evident the media has no idea whatsoever who the Raiders favor at No. 5. A lot of it depends, of course, on who the Top 4 slots pick, and who trades around in those slots, but still. Oakland is a nice big question mark, right where Reggie wants it.
5/8 (Th.) 1:53 pm PT -- Atlanta may have given up on the asking price by Houston at No. 1...NOW they are thinking of jumping to No. 4 if Khalil Mack is still available...leapfrogging Oakland. Rapoport reporting that the Raiders could be looking at trading back to gain value and get Derek Carr somewhere in the mid-1st Rd.
5/8 (Th.) 1:31 pm PT -- Texans may be close to trading for current Patriot QB Ryan Mallett.
5/8 (Th.) 11:48 am PT -- per Adam Schefter, "Houston is now locked in on its player and is not expecting a trade, per sources. Texans happy to sit at 1 and take player it wants."
5/8 (Th.) 11:28 am PT -- If the Bills take a WR in the 1st Round, it was reported by WGR 550 in Buffalo that WR Stevie Johnson would be put on the trading block. It was reported also, the Bills really like Odell Beckham Jr. out of LSU at No. 9 Overall.
5/8 (Th.) 11:08 am PT -- It appears the Rams taking Manziel talk is officially a smokescreen... Bradford is their "guy" going forward.
5/8 (Th.) 10:59 am PT -- RotoWorld also reporting that the Texans have dropped their asking price at No. 1, presumably for Clowney, to a 2014 1st Round swap, a 2014 2nd and 3rd Rounder...AND a 2015 1st Round pick. Geez that's all? It was also reported that the Giants could have interest for Manziel at No. 12 Overall...again, feels like trade down bait...then again, Giants are still rebuilding and Eli can't play forever.
5/8 (Th.) 10:57 am PT -- Glazer had previously reported that the Bucs won't take Manziel at No. 7 should he be available.
5/8 (Th.) 10:54 am PT -- RotoWorld Draft writer Evan Silva mocks a trade at No. 5 with Detroit...dropping Oakland to the No. 10 spot, where Texas A&M Aggie Left Tackle Jake Matthews fell. It would be a very good trade down to land a solid player like Matthews and nab an extra Day 2 pick.
5/8 (Th.) 10:51 am PT -- NFL.com reporting that the Vikings will take a hard look at Johnny Manziel with their No. 8 pick. Smells like a smokescreen to get a trade down, and being a QB, they could get some good value out of a trade there.
5/8 (Th.) 10:40 am PT -- Tony Pauline reports that, if they had to keep their original 1st Round pick, the Rams would go Jake Matthews and the Steelers would go Kyle Fuller.
5/8 (Th.) 10:15 am PT -- ProFootballTalk.com says a source has informed them that the Raiders prefer Texas A&M WR Mike Evans over Clemson WR Sammy Watkins. Link
5/8 (Th.) 10:11 am PT -- Eastern Illinois QB Jimmy Garoppolo and Vanderbilt WR Jordan Matthews were singled out by NFLN Draft Analyst Gil Brandt today. He said they could mix into the 2014 NFL Draft higher than expected. Noted high character, and that it counts. Both were invited to Radio City Music Hall.
5/8 (Th.) 10:05 am PT -- Zach Mettenberger has had three NFL teams tell him they have him rated in the Top of the 2nd Round...despite the noted "back condition" at the Combine.
5/8 (Th.) 9:44 am PT -- Late Draft buzz for Tennessee OT Ja'Wuan James...1st Rd. buzz...possible landing spots seem like Miami, Denver or maybe Seattle. Might be a bit too high for Miami.
5/8 (Th.) 9:35 am PT -- Falcons playing tough with Texans and Rams at No. 1 and No. 2...word is they're staying at No. 6 and selecting an OT.
5/8 (Th.) 9:21 am PT -- Talk now turning to Aaron Donald. Trade down still seems likely.
5/7 (Wed.) 9:45 pm PT -- A LOT of late night Wednesday talk about the Raiders looking to trade down and go after QB Derek Carr.
The final 24 hours...always some interesting chatter. We'll keep it updated as Round 1 approaches.
Right now, seems that Oakland is actively trying to trade down (duh), but at a fair asking price...as the time crunch approaches people sometimes change their minds. Should be a wild 1st Round. Can't wait.
Side note, previously acquired RB Kory Sheets was busted for weed in Canada. He could be cut soon.

NFP Reports...
Utah CB Keith McGill is being reported as having worked out for the Oakland Raiders in the pre-draft process. Link
McGill is in the new "Seattle" mold of Corners...very tall, athletic but not necessarily sudden or explosive, he'll provide a physical presence out on the island with the bigger WRs and Flex TEs of the NFL. Likely a 3rd or 4th Rd pick, but with his size and potential, he could go as early as the 2nd. For the Raiders, he could be a Rd 3 or Rd 4 target should a favorable CB not fall to them in the 2nd.
